A Message from YCL
Young Chicago Lakefront was founded in 2001 to provide community service, social, and political opportunities to 'young' democrats along the Chicago lakefront. (Of course, we joke that you don't have to be young, live in Chicago or on the lakefront to be a part of our organization.)
Since our first event at Irish Oak in December 2001, we have grown to over 1000 subscribing members. We made over 10,000 phone calls for John Kerry and we have cooked dinner at a homeless shelter. We have gone door to door for our favorite candidates and shucked corn at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. We have had quarterly social events at local bars and walked to help raise money to help fight AIDS. No matter what your area of interest is, we have opportunities for you.
2007 is going to be an exciting year for YCL. In addition to our annual social events and community service activities we will be continuing our successful breakfast series in the fall.
If you have any questions about YCL, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you at our next event.
Sincerely,
Bennett Lawson
President, Young Chicago Lakefront
